Kit up in a hard-hat, hi-vis vest and safety glasses and come with us to Oceana Gold's open-pit mine. Located just south of Reefton in the middle of the Victoria Conservation Park, the ever-deepening pit is currently approx 500m across and 120m deep. You'll visit the mine in style in an air-conditioned coach, and enroute you'll hear a little of Reefton's history and how the pioneers mined for gold back in the late 1800s. At the mine you'll go right into the heart of the operation along the haul roads to the lookout and visit the processing plant and the control room. Tours typically operate daily from Tuesday to Saturday.
