About Golf in an Alpine Amphitheatre

You will find an extra distraction playing golf in Queenstown — the view!

Fairways and greens are back dropped by breath-taking views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkable Ranges.

The fifth hole at the Queenstown Golf Club's course at Kelvin Heights, framed by the lake, is probably the most photographed in the country. Take care though—a distracted drive could leave you with a very wet ball.

Queenstown Golf Club also has a nine-hole course and driving range at Frankton, next to the Airport, which is ideal if you are a beginner. Professional instructors are available to help shape your game.

Another stunning golf course is at Millbrook Resort. Bob Charles designed this 18-hole course to highlight the spectacular mountain scenery. Wait until you reach the 13th — the most picturesque hole on the course.

And yes, you can golf in winter. These golf courses are open all year. The region has excellent drainage and sunny winter days with no wind. It's not uncommon to see golfers out in July in short-sleeve shirts!

You can spend the morning skiing, and then play a round of golf in the afternoon!
