About Rotorua Luge, Skyrides and Skyswing

Over five million riders can't be wrong — the luge, a Rotorua-designed and built gravity ride, is a hit.

Using a three-wheel cart with a unique gravity breaking and steering system, the rider is in full control and can dictate just what speed they hurtle downhill. And that’s a good thing, because if you've chosen the advanced one-kilometre concreted track — complete with tight bends and curves — you may (if you’ve bitten off more than you can chew) need to call on those controls.

The luge has two alternative tracks: the intermediate option, covering 1.5 kilometres and weaving through tunnel and spirals; and the scenic track, a two-kilometre coaster lined with redwood trees and rest areas for taking photographs.

An all-weather outdoor activity suitable for all ages — you can even take under-six-year-olds with you on the scenic option — two tracks are lit for night rides.

Access to the top of the luge tracks is via a chairlift that will take you to the top of Mt Ngongotaha to enjoy amazing panoramic views and tasty nosh at the onsite food court.

For those wanting even more adventure and adrenalin, the SkySwing — flying through the air at more than 150 kilometres per hour — is also located here.
