State Highway 6 between Greymouth and Westport has been the main coastal route since the gold-mining days and with spectacular views like these you don't want to be in a hurry. Punakaiki is located near the centre of the 'Coast Road', so make sure you allow plenty of time to stop and enjoy the coastal views, the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes and the walks and activities in the Paparoa National Park.
