The native New Zealand animal section was my absolute favorite! The kiwi are, of course, something that everyone has to see on a trip to New Zealand and the kiwi house at Willowbank is wonderfully set up. The kiwi were really active and tons of fun to watch! Even though the kiwi are the main attraction, I thought the kea (NZ mountain parrots) were completely delightful. They were super friendly and curious, and got very close while we walked through the enclosure. What a memorable experience!
Go in the evening! The animals really start to move around when the sun starts going down and the day gets a bit cooler. We went in the evening and had dinner at the Willowbank restaurant (fantastic!) and then went for a walk through the wildlife park afterward. It was a really great outing all around, and I definitely recommend it to anybody.
