TROUT FISHING
The Waitahanui River and famous Picket Fence at the river mouth offer excellent fly fishing within easy walking distance. The Waitahanui is known as one of the best rainbow and brown trout fishing waters in the world. Lake fishing in the Waitahanui Bay and Horomatangi Reef offer consistent catches year round. The Lodge Shop provides all your fishing tackle needs including the hire of rods and waders. We can also organize a fishing guide and also have our own trout smoking facility on site.
BOATING AND SAILING
The lake frontage and private boat ramp provide the ideal opportunity to enjoy all lake activities - water skiing, windsurfing, sailing and swimming. Rowboats, kayaks and boogie boards are free for guests to use.
TRAMPING
The tranquil river tracks provide the perfect walk whether it is a casual stroll or a 2 hour tramp.
SKIING
Tongariro National Park and ski fields are only 50 minutes away. During the ski season, a bus service is available from our front door.
