Go shopping in Ahipara,
you might be surprised at what you'll find. If you like shopping,
you'll love what this country has to offer. We've got every type of
shopping covered, so no matter what you're after, you'll find it here.
Suburban shopping malls offer fun shopping experiences, with specialty
shops, including homeware, music, arts and crafts, and upmarket chain and
department stores carrying quality brands. Most of our city centres are
lined with shops, great for wandering up and down while exploring our
cities. At the other end of the scale, second-hand shops and markets
often contain great surprises and that something that's just a little
bit different, for a great price.
If it's Kiwi souvenirs you're
after, you won't have to go far - souvenir shops can usually be found at
major tourist attractions, in most towns, and at many places throughout
cities.
Ahipara: Ahipara offers an excellent vantage point for a panoramic view along Ninety Mile Beach - one of the premier tourist attractions in Northland. Kaitaia's golf course is next to the beach and provides excellent all-weather playing. Settlers made their living here digging kauri gum. Other tourist attractions include relics of the gum-digger days at the Ahipara Gumfields Historic Reserve, and the nearby remnants of ancient kauri forests. Ahipara is also well known for its year-round surfing. Local leisure activities include off-road 4x4 tours, blo-karting, sand toboganning, as well as Ninety Mile Beach and Cape Reinga bus tours.
