destination, Alexandra is the hub of NZ's stone fruit and merino wool industries. In recent times
Alexandra has been known for the Central Otago Rail Trail, which stretches 150km from Clyde to
Middlemarch, designed for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. There is everything from an
Olympic-size ice rink and aquatic centre to wineries, river cruises, golf, kayaking, mountain
biking, trout fishing and more. Interesting features include a hillside clock, the Old Man Rock,
Shaky Bridge and Tucker Hill Lookout. History is preserved in Otago Goldfields Heritage sites and a
museum.
