Bluff: Bluff is a fishing town and major port serving as a link to Stewart Island. The fishing fleet includes dredgers for the famous Bluff oysters - not rock oysters but deep-water shellfish with a sweet and succulent taste. Boat cruises, a maritime museum, the Paua House with its extensive collection of seashells, good seafood restaurants, all underscore the importance of the sea to this community. From Bluff Hill there is a wide and famous view. Several other walking tracks wind their way around Bluff Hill. Greenpoint Walkway is another interesting coastal walk.
