Dunedin Activities - What to See & Do. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Dunedin Activities including Adventure, Bird Watching, Boat Tour, Bus Tour, Cruises, Cultural, Cultural Display, Cultural Tour, Cycling Tour, Eco Tourism, Eco-Tour, Family Activity, Fun Park, Golf, Historic, Marine Mammal Encounters, Mountain Biking/Cycling, Museum, Other Activities, Sculptures/Greenstone carving, Shopping Tour, Wildlife Tours and Wine/Brewery Tour, you will find it here on AA Travel.

If you come to Dunedin looking for fun, excitement or a dose of adrenalin, you certainly won't leave disappointed. There's bound to be aquatic, family or thrilling activities either here or not too far away, from marine mammal encounters and eco-tourism adventures to cruises and jet-boat rides. New Zealand is the 'Adventure Capital of the World', so adrenalin-pumping action is found all over the country. Jet boating and white-water rafting are exhilarating ways to check out the country's crystal-clear rivers and magic scenery. If you would rather stay dry then there's a myriad of land and air-based activities on offer too. The brave can try bungy jumping, the slightly less courageous can enjoy a tandem hang-glide or parapent, or for the ultimate thrill there is the free-fall skydive. Plus, abseiling or exploring the captivating cave systems that riddle both the North and South Islands should definitely be on your to-do list.

Dunedin has an octagon in the centre of the city. The Municipal Chambers, St Paul's Cathedral, the
Dunedin Public Art Gallery and Regent Theatre surround the Octagon, along with a number of cafes,
bars and restaurants, many with outdoor seating and live music or performance. Dunedin Railway
Station is one of the world's most photographed stations. The station is open daily and incorporates
a restaurant, booking offices, and is the starting point for a return trip on the Taieri Gorge
Railway into rugged, spectacular scenery. Perhaps Dunedin's most popular tour is Cadbury World
Tours - Cadbury's chocolate factory tour (1.25 hours, including free chocolate, 9am-4pm, 7 days).
The Speight's Heritage Centre also runs daily tours of the historic Speight's Brewery, a fully
working brewery (includes free tasting). There are also wildlife tours, horse trekking, an art and
craft trail - Otago Arts Roads, and garden tours. Golf and salmon fishing are found naturally in
an area with a Scottish heritage. Sea kayaking and jet boating on the Taieri River are also
available. The waves provide ideal conditions for surfing. On windy days, the harbour is colourful
with yachts and windsurfers. Dunedin Public Art Gallery houses one of the finest collections of art
in New Zealand. From a small international collection of 'Old Masters' to a larger assemblage of
historical and contemporary New Zealand works, the gallery has something for everyone. It runs a
variety of interesting visitor programmes and special exhibitions, and has a gift shop, an
auditorium, a classroom and a cafe.
