New Zealand Golden Bay Arts & Crafts - What to See & Do. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Golden Bay Arts & Crafts including Cultural, you will find it here on AA Travel.
Quirky and creative arts and crafts can be found in Golden Bay and throughout the country. Art is very much a part of our Kiwi culture. All of the metropolitan centres around the country have exciting public art galleries and exhibitions, as well as dealer galleries. Many regions have high concentrations of painters, craftspeople, sculptors, photographers, printers and carvers – perhaps because of the inspiring landscapes. But don’t limit yourself to just these locations; many superb pieces can be found all over the country.
Golden Bay: Golden Bay is a vibrant, unforgettable part of Nelson region. The spectacular drive over Takaka Hill winds through a granite and marble landscape, and the views from the top are spectacular. Golden Bay is also connected to the rest of Nelson by the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. It is a landscape fairly caught between an idyllic unspoiled coastline and the massive wilderness that is Kahurangi National Park. Kahurangi is mostly rugged country and a nature lover's delight. There are good tracks, including the popular Heaphy Track through to Karamea on the West Coast, and the Wangapeka. Natural features of Golden Bay include the crystal clear freshwater springs (reputed to be the world's clearest) at Te Waikoropupu (Pupu) Springs and Farewell Spit, the northern-most tip of the South Island. 4WD tours to Farewell Spit depart daily from Collingwood. Throughout Golden Bay there are also cafés and entertainment venues of style and character and numerous art outlets. Catch your own salmon at Anatoki Salmon and have it prepared on site.
