you might be surprised at what you'll find. If you like shopping,
you'll love what this country has to offer. We've got every type of
shopping covered, so no matter what you're after, you'll find it here.
Suburban shopping malls offer fun shopping experiences, with specialty
shops, including homeware, music, arts and crafts, and upmarket chain and
department stores carrying quality brands. Most of our city centres are
lined with shops, great for wandering up and down while exploring our
cities. At the other end of the scale, second-hand shops and markets
often contain great surprises and that something that's just a little
bit different, for a great price.
If it's Kiwi souvenirs you're
after, you won't have to go far - souvenir shops can usually be found at
major tourist attractions, in most towns, and at many places throughout
cities.
Greymouth: Greymouth is the largest town on the West Coast. Visitors to the area can enjoy a huge range of activities from black-water (cave) and white-water rafting, 4WD bike rides, lake cruises on Lake Brunner at Moana, dolphin watching from the breakwater of the Grey River, canoeing, scenic flights… the list is endless. Greymouth is the birthplace of Monteith's beer and tours of the brewery are available. Visit History House, jade galleries and the replica gold-mining town, Shantytown (just south of Greymouth). The selection of cafes and restaurants will keep all tastes satisfied. The area also boasts some wonderful walks from one hour through to two days. Greymouth is a great base for visits to Punakaiki and the Glacier Country. The TranzAlpine makes its journey to and from Christchurch each day arriving early afternoon and returning at 1.45pm.
