fame - its historic railway and its public toilets. Whilst the Bay of Islands Vintage Railway is not
currently operational, plans are progressing for the train that will travel between Kawakawa and
Opua to return. Journeys will take 45 minutes each way. Friedrich Hundertwasser, a famous Austrian
architect, painter and print maker, designed the wildly colourful and creative toilets in 1997.
