Lake Taupo Food and Wine - What to See & Do. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Lake Taupo Food and Wine including Other Food and Wine, Takeaway and Vineyard, you will find it here on AA Travel.

Eating out can be one of the highlights of a holiday in Lake Taupo. You can expect to find wonderful examples of edible excellence throughout the country, and the high standard of food offered by cafes and restaurants can be attributed to an unlimited supply of fresh, quality ingredients. The cuisine style known as Pacific Rim is New Zealand's point of difference. Pacific Rim blends the flavours of South East Asia, the Pacific and Japan. Seafood, the traditional Maori hangi (an earth oven), fresh fruit and locally produced venison and beef are just a selection of the must-try cuisine on offer. Combine this with world-class locally made wines and you have a memorable dining experience.

Snowy mountains, sparkling rivers that lead into a mighty lake, thermal outlets where hot water
steams, and trout - these are the memorable features of the Lake Taupo District. The lake itself is
the result of an immense volcanic eruption in AD186. You can explore the lake and rivers and have
fun with such activities as jet boating, going for lake cruises, parasailing, white-water rafting,
canoeing, water skiing, windsurfing and kayaking. Other activities include bungy jumping, gliding,
helicopter and fixed-wing flights, skydiving, mountain biking, horse riding and 4WD bike riding.
Thermal areas are found nearby at Wairakei and Tokaanu. The volcanic plateau of the central north
island includes the Tongariro National Park, which has three active volcanoes; Ruapehu, Tongariro
and Ngauruhoe. The park has a variety of walking tracks and Mt Ruapehu has the popular ski fields of
Whakapapa, Turoa and Tukino. In nearby forests you can hunt for feral deer, pigs, goats, rabbits and
possums.
