Mount Somers Backpackers - Accommodation. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Mount Somers Backpackers , you will find it here on AA Travel.

Taking advantage of Mount Somers's backpacker options is a great way to socialise before moving on and exploring the entire country on a budget. Backpacker accommodation is friendly, communal and reliable. They are places where, usually, young travellers congregate and often make friends with people of different nationalities. It's the most fun way to discover everything this country has to offer and meet like-minded travellers. New Zealand backpacker accommodation is considered to be of a consistently high quality. Most backpacker accommodation throughout the country offers a mixture of shared rooms (dormitories), as well as single, twin or double rooms for a higher (but still relatively cheap) cost. The facilities usually consist of a communal kitchen and bathroom, and a coin-operated laundry, although this does vary - many also have internet access, bars and TV lounges. Long-term rates are usually offered for those planning to stay awhile.

Biking and walking are the main reasons to stay at Mount Somers. The main attraction of the area is the Mount Somers Subalpine Walkway, a 17km hike linking Woolshed Creek and Sharplin Falls. Features on the walkway include historic coal mines, volcanic formations, tussock lands, a deep river canyon and rugged bush country. The holiday park offers self-catering accommodation, campervan and campsites, with facilities for groups. Pet friendly accommodation is available by arrangement.
