information centre. This will enable you to pick up all the information

i-SITES are New
Zealand's official visitor centres, and there are over 80 of them
throughout the country. Aside from i-SITES, there are also information
centres in most towns and even in small settlements.
The friendly
staff at the information centres can help you find accommodation, plan
tours and activities, and give you that local insight that makes all the
difference. Most bookings can be made here for you, and you can pick up
maps and brochures to help you plan your visit. These centres also
sometimes have souvenirs for sale and internet access.
Most of the Nelson region's economy is based on natural resources such as fishing, horticulture,
forestry and agriculture. Visit Nelson and encounter the unique by chatting with locals while
picking apples in an orchard, discovering creative marvels in a studio gallery, or wandering through
the city's bustling outdoor Saturday market. There are three national parks within 90 minutes of
each other, yet they offer totally different experiences; the Abel Tasman (coastal), Nelson Lakes
(alpine) and Kahurangi (wilderness). Superb food, boutique wineries, hop growing, local breweries,
hillsides cover in pip-fruit orchards and berry fruit, and roadside stalls are all part of Nelson's
charm. Add to that the highest sunshine hours and some of the best beaches in the country.
Activities in the region include walks, sea kayaking, tandem skydiving, 4WD biking, Skywire flying
fox, mountain biking, caving, river rafting, skiing, sailing, horse riding and fly fishing.
