Otago Backpackers - Accommodation. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Otago Backpackers including Backpackers/Hostel, you will find it here on AA Travel.
Taking advantage of
Otago's backpacker options is a great way to socialise
before moving on and exploring the entire country on a budget. Backpacker
accommodation is friendly, communal and reliable. They are places where,
usually, young travellers congregate and often make friends with people
of different nationalities. It's the most fun way to discover everything
this country has to offer and meet like-minded travellers. New Zealand
backpacker accommodation is considered to be of a consistently high
quality. Most backpacker accommodation throughout the country offers a
mixture of shared rooms (dormitories), as well as single, twin or double
rooms for a higher (but still relatively cheap) cost. The facilities
usually consist of a communal kitchen and bathroom, and a coin-operated
laundry, although this does vary - many also have internet access, bars
and TV lounges. Long-term rates are usually offered for those planning to
stay awhile.
The southern part of New Zealand has a rugged and unspoilt landscape; it is a fertile place of green
farmland and forest, laced with sparkling clean waters and small towns. Dunedin is the capital of a
sparsely settled region that once swarmed with gold prospectors. From the mountains to the sea,
Waitaki is rich in natural beauty. The east coast at Moeraki is teeming with wildlife including
penguins, seals, fish and dolphins. The Clutha River has great fishing and boating; Balclutha is the
main town of this productive agricultural area of South Otago. The rich farming country of
Southland contrasts with the natural wonders of Fiordland, where there are deep rainforests and high
alpine lakes, thick bush and rare, elusive birds.
