Papamoa Beach is a resort suburb of Tauranga with a steadily growing population and an excellent golden sand beach offering a range of recreational activities, modern shopping and a variety of dining options. The area contains some excellent examples of historical Maori sites with many hilltops featuring ancient pa sites. Pastimes include blo-karting, fishing, surfing, golfing, horse trekking, luging, 4WD motorbike rides, target shooting and grass skiing. One of the area's most spectacular sites, the Kaiate Falls, is set in a bush-clad valley off Welcome Bay Road.
