Picton Information & Services - What to See & Do. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Picton Information & Services including Petrol/Gas Stations, you will find it here on AA Travel.

If you're visiting Picton, your first stop should be the information centre. This will enable you to pick up all the information that you need to get the most out of your trip. i-SITES are New Zealand's official visitor centres, and there are over 80 of them throughout the country. Aside from i-SITES, there are also information centres in most towns and even in small settlements. The friendly staff at the information centres can help you find accommodation, plan tours and activities, and give you that local insight that makes all the difference. Most bookings can be made here for you, and you can pick up maps and brochures to help you plan your visit. These centres also sometimes have souvenirs for sale and internet access.

Picton is the perfect place to base a holiday or as a start point for the Queen Charlotte Track. It
is also the first port of call for visitors travelling on an interisland ferry from Wellington to
the South Island. The area is rich in maritime and Maori history, which can be explored at Picton's
museum with its many historical artefacts. Picton has a fine selection of arts and crafts outlets
and many cafes where you can sit outdoors and enjoy the sunny atmosphere. On the foreshore you will
find the scenic cruise boats, a sea kayaking company, small boat and bike hire, the mini-golf
course, the aquarium ('hands-in' for the brave!), and the community museum. At the Edwin Fox museum
is the hull of this India-built teak ship constructed in 1853. Its 47 years of maritime service
ended in Picton in 1900. The ship is in a purpose-built museum at Dunbar Wharf.
