Picton Shopping - What to See & Do. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Picton Shopping, you will find it here on AA Travel.

Go shopping in Picton, you might be surprised at what you'll find. If you like shopping, you'll love what this country has to offer. We've got every type of shopping covered, so no matter what you're after, you'll find it here. Suburban shopping malls offer fun shopping experiences, with specialty shops, including homeware, music, arts and crafts, and upmarket chain and department stores carrying quality brands. Most of our city centres are lined with shops, great for wandering up and down while exploring our cities. At the other end of the scale, second-hand shops and markets often contain great surprises and that something that's just a little bit different, for a great price. If it's Kiwi souvenirs you're after, you won't have to go far - souvenir shops can usually be found at major tourist attractions, in most towns, and at many places throughout cities.

Picton is the perfect place to base a holiday or as a start point for the Queen Charlotte Track. It
is also the first port of call for visitors travelling on an interisland ferry from Wellington to
the South Island. The area is rich in maritime and Maori history, which can be explored at Picton's
museum with its many historical artefacts. Picton has a fine selection of arts and crafts outlets
and many cafes where you can sit outdoors and enjoy the sunny atmosphere. On the foreshore you will
find the scenic cruise boats, a sea kayaking company, small boat and bike hire, the mini-golf
course, the aquarium ('hands-in' for the brave!), and the community museum. At the Edwin Fox museum
is the hull of this India-built teak ship constructed in 1853. Its 47 years of maritime service
ended in Picton in 1900. The ship is in a purpose-built museum at Dunbar Wharf.
