New Zealand Punakaiki Arts & Crafts - What to See & Do. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Punakaiki Arts & Crafts including Crafts and Sculptures/Greenstone carving, you will find it here on AA Travel.
Quirky and creative arts and crafts can be found in Punakaiki and throughout the country. Art is very much a part of our Kiwi culture. All of the metropolitan centres around the country have exciting public art galleries and exhibitions, as well as dealer galleries. Many regions have high concentrations of painters, craftspeople, sculptors, photographers, printers and carvers – perhaps because of the inspiring landscapes. But don’t limit yourself to just these locations; many superb pieces can be found all over the country.
Punakaiki: The small settlement of Punakaiki is surrounded by Paparoa National Park. Punakaiki is best known for the Pancake Rocks and the associated spectacular blowholes. The blowholes are 10 minutes’ level walk from the highway; the path is wheelchair accessible (with assistance). Punakaiki has a warm, moist microclimate fostered by a warm current from Australia and sheltering limestone bluffs. Activities in the area include horse treks and canoeing. The local tavern serves meals and bar snacks.
