Glimpses of Riverton's past can be seen in the local museum. Activities include boating, duck shooting, fishing, bush walking and jet boating in the Pourakino Valley. Attractions include Observation Point, the Howell Memorial, and a paua shell factory. Safe swimming beaches are at Taramea, Mitchell's and Henderson's Bays (9 km).
