Waterfalls and streams cascade down the mountain into the Patea River, which winds through the town centre. Stratford has great parks and gardens. It also boasts New Zealand's only public glockenspiel. A range of restaurants is available as well as cafés, night entertainment and shopping. Activities include scenic flights, canoeing, horse trekking, brewery and sheepskin factory tours, the pioneer village open-air museum and the Ngaere and Hollard Gardens.
