Tirau is the oldest town in the South Waikato and is a small farming centre with an increasing
number of antique, art and craft shops and cafes. Attractions include garden walks, the local honey
industry, a deer farm, early New Zealand museum, jade factory, toy and doll museum and golf course.
The Te Waihou Walkway is now open - a delightful 6km, 2.5-hour return trip to the Blue Spring from
which 'Pump' water is obtained. Visit the Country Store for a fun and funky shopping experience.
