New Zealand Waitakere Arts & Crafts - What to See & Do. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Waitakere Arts & Crafts including Cultural and Sculptures/Greenstone carving, you will find it here on AA Travel.
Quirky and creative arts and crafts can be found in Waitakere and throughout the country. Art is very much a part of our Kiwi culture. All of the metropolitan centres around the country have exciting public art galleries and exhibitions, as well as dealer galleries. Many regions have high concentrations of painters, craftspeople, sculptors, photographers, printers and carvers – perhaps because of the inspiring landscapes. But don’t limit yourself to just these locations; many superb pieces can be found all over the country.
Waitakere: Arguably the main tourist attraction in Waitakere City is the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, which acts as an inspiration for the city’s arts community and the popular Art and Heritage Trail, which links local galleries and artists.
Waitakere City’s Regional Park offers 250km of walking and tramping tracks and an abundance of other leisure activities including swimming, surfing, fishing, boating, horse riding, running, picnicking, camping, canyoning, sightseeing or simply relaxing.
Across the city on the historic Corban Estate, a new arts precinct is growing. The old winery homestead has a complex of art galleries, which focus on local and heritage exhibitions. To complement the already existing art scene are a scattering of small dealer art galleries.
