New Zealand Waitomo Caves Shopping - What to See & Do. If you are looking for comprehensive travel information for Waitomo Caves Shopping including Gift Shop, Other Shopping and Souvenir Shop, you will find it here on AA Travel.
Go shopping in Waitomo Caves,
you might be surprised at what you'll find. If you like shopping,
you'll love what this country has to offer. We've got every type of
shopping covered, so no matter what you're after, you'll find it here.
Suburban shopping malls offer fun shopping experiences, with specialty
shops, including homeware, music, arts and crafts, and upmarket chain and
department stores carrying quality brands. Most of our city centres are
lined with shops, great for wandering up and down while exploring our
cities. At the other end of the scale, second-hand shops and markets
often contain great surprises and that something that's just a little
bit different, for a great price.
If it's Kiwi souvenirs you're
after, you won't have to go far - souvenir shops can usually be found at
major tourist attractions, in most towns, and at many places throughout
cities.
Waitomo Caves: Spectacular sculpted limestone outcrops, 'disappearing' streams and natural bridges give tourists several clues that Waitomo is different. It has two landscapes - one above ground and one below. Take a boat ride through a glow-worm cave, or go adventure caving and cave abseiling (rappelling) or float along under a 'sky' of glow-worms through huge caverns scattered with ancient stalactites. Jump on a 4WD trail bike, go skydiving, horse trekking, jet boating, take in a kiwi-culture show, rabbit shearing, wildlife park, forest and farm walk, or go on a Maori scenic cultural tour. Explore the three-hour Waitomo Walkway starting opposite the i-SITE Visitor Information Centre and Museum of Caves and experience Waitomo's beautiful rolling farmland, native forest and spectacular limestone features, including the Ruakuri Natural Bridge; and, at night see the magnificent glow-worm display near Ruakuri car park (free maps available from the i-SITE). Take a 30-minute drive west to the Mangapohue Natural Bridge, self-guided Piripiri Caves and the Marokopa Falls; and, take a further 20 minutes to Marokopa and the wild and beautiful west coast. From Marokopa, take a two-hour scenic drive south to Awakino and on to New Plymouth, or return north to Te Kuiti and Hamilton.
