If you come to Wellington Region looking for fun, excitement or a dose of adrenalin, you certainly won't leave disappointed. There's bound to be aquatic, family or thrilling activities either here or not too far away, from marine mammal encounters and eco-tourism adventures to cruises and jet-boat rides. New Zealand is the 'Adventure Capital of the World', so adrenalin-pumping action is found all over the country. Jet boating and white-water rafting are exhilarating ways to check out the country's crystal-clear rivers and magic scenery. If you would rather stay dry then there's a myriad of land and air-based activities on offer too. The brave can try bungy jumping, the slightly less courageous can enjoy a tandem hang-glide or parapent, or for the ultimate thrill there is the free-fall skydive. Plus, abseiling or exploring the captivating cave systems that riddle both the North and South Islands should definitely be on your to-do list.

The magnificent Kapiti Coast stretches along the Tasman Sea from Paekakariki to Otaki with the
majestic backdrop of Kapiti Island to the west and the Tararua Ranges to the east. Visitors will
find something of interest in a range of specialty and antique shops and retail outlets that include
cafes, galleries, studios, boutiques and factory shops. Sample quality olives, candy, honey,
chocolates, cheeses and icecream from local producers and a range of local fruit and vegetables,
which are available on the numerous roadside shops. For family groups there may be found a gentle
peace and tranquillity in the nature reserves, lagoon walks, museums, farm shows, bird sanctuaries
and sun-drenched sandy beaches. The Tararua Ranges offer bush walking, tramping, 4WD biking,
white-water rafting, and kayaking. There are cycle and walking tracks and other activities including
horse riding, beaches for swimming and water-sports, fishing, flying with the aero club or golfing
on some of New Zealand's finest links. New Zealand's capital city Wellington is nestled between a
dazzling harbour and tree-lined hills. Visitors can easily stroll from one Wellington attraction to
another, while absorbing the cosmopolitan flavour, which gives Wellington all the stimulation and
sophistication of the world's biggest cities. The city offers an array of attractions including art
festivals, and is a great venue for international and national sporting events.
