department stores carrying quality brands. Most of our city centres are

often contain great surprises and that something that's just a little

The magnificent Kapiti Coast stretches along the Tasman Sea from Paekakariki to Otaki with the
majestic backdrop of Kapiti Island to the west and the Tararua Ranges to the east. Visitors will
find something of interest in a range of specialty and antique shops and retail outlets that include
cafes, galleries, studios, boutiques and factory shops. Sample quality olives, candy, honey,
chocolates, cheeses and icecream from local producers and a range of local fruit and vegetables,
which are available on the numerous roadside shops. For family groups there may be found a gentle
peace and tranquillity in the nature reserves, lagoon walks, museums, farm shows, bird sanctuaries
and sun-drenched sandy beaches. The Tararua Ranges offer bush walking, tramping, 4WD biking,
white-water rafting, and kayaking. There are cycle and walking tracks and other activities including
horse riding, beaches for swimming and water-sports, fishing, flying with the aero club or golfing
on some of New Zealand's finest links.
