What if I told you there's a way to explore our country's stunning winter landscapes without giving up our home comforts? Well it's true - it's easy to explore the outdoors while still having a roof over your head at night by going 'camping without a tent' and utilising the roofed accommodation options in our holiday parks and campgrounds. After all, why should the colder months stop you from getting out among New Zealand's beautiful scenery?

Holiday parks and campgrounds are generally located in beautiful scenic areas, and staying in a holiday park or a campground is not just about pitching a tent anymore. For those that don't want to rough it, staying in a holiday park's roofed accommodation is the perfect option. It's ideal for those winter getaways, when pitching a tent in the pouring rain doesn't appeal, and it's generally easy on the pocket.

Many holiday parks now offer more than just tent and campervan sites. You can stay in a self-contained cabin or unit with your own kitchen or ensuite; in some parks you can even your campervan next to your own personal 'ensuite'.

Convenient facilities are one great reason that holiday parks are great for year-round holidays. Most holiday parks and campgrounds have all of the communal facilities you need for a great holiday, with some being equal to those of a good hotel. You can expect clean bathrooms, convenient laundry rooms and top-quality kitchens, with some also offering swimming and spa pools, drying rooms and jam-packed games rooms.

All in all, staying in holiday parks is a great option for many tourists visiting New Zealand in winter, and chances are it will appeal to the locals too. It's a great way to entice people to experience our beautiful natural scenery, without having to leave their home comforts behind.
